Waterfall Arts + Colonial Theatre

Waterfall Arts and the Colonial Theatre have begun an ongoing partnership to co-present film-based programs and community events that deepen cultural dialogue and expand access to shared creative experiences in Belfast and the greater Midcoast region.

This collaboration brings together two nonprofit arts organizations with complementary missions: one grounded in hands-on art and craft engagement, and the other in film exhibition and cinematic storytelling.

Waterfall Arts and the Colonial Theatre share a belief that arts organizations play a vital civic role. By collaborating rather than operating in isolation, we strengthen the cultural ecosystem of the Midcoast and create more opportunities for audiences to engage with diverse artistic perspectives.

The partnership formally begins with a Black queer short film showcase presented for Black History Month on February 24, at 6:30pm. This inaugural program establishes a foundation for future collaborations that highlight underrepresented voices and invite audiences to gather for meaningful shared viewing experiences.

While future programming is still in development, both organizations are committed to continuing this relationship through thoughtfully curated screenings and related public events.

As this partnership evolves, future collaborations may include additional curated screenings, artist talks, panel discussions, and other film-related programming that responds to cultural moments and community interests.

Specific initiatives will be announced as they are developed.
