Painting: Color Theory Crash Course
Color Theory + Outdoors = plein air painting. We'll be interpreting the landscape with lessons in color theory to guide us into integrated and balanced color interaction. We'll start in the studio to introduce the day's focus and then head out to work. By afternoon, we'll wind up back at Waterfall Arts to look over our work and pat each other on the back for a job well done; a relaxing way to learn, paint, and take in the view. Everything from oils and acrylics to watercolors are welcome.

Teaching Artistic Behaviors is another name for choice-based art education. The format involves a mixture of small group and one-on-one skills instruction with student-initiated and paced exploration. TAB programming is sequential; media/techniques/concepts are introduced formally then become a part of the open offerings the next week. By the end of each 7-week session, students have a full "toolbox" for creating independently. Art learning that is student-led requires the flexibility, space, and resources our fully equipped studio offers and is ideal for Montessori, Reggio, and similar constructivist approaches embraced by the homeschool community.
