Ceramics

Our clay studio supports handbuilding and wheel throwing. Artist subscribers can run their own firings or arrange firings with studio staff.

The Ceramics Studio is equipped with five electric wheels, three kilns (Large Sitter Skutt, Medium Bailey, Small Paragon), a Brent SRC Slab Roller, and a clay Reclamation Station.

Subscribers have access to a variety of tools for the wheel and hand building, including wood bats, drying and storage shelves, slip buckets, plastic covering, sponges, and kiln shelves.

Subscribers must bring their own clay. Glazes and kiln firing prices vary by volume.

Our studio is designed to support a general white clay body. Tools and equipment are available for your use with this clay body. Artists are required to provide their own tools, slip bucket and clay drying equipment if working in a different clay body.

Open Studio Hours*

CURRENT SCHEDULE

Wednesdays 3:30 – 5PM (Kid’s Session Ages 5+)

Wednesdays 5 – 8PM

First Saturday of the Month 9AM – 12PM

The studios at Waterfall Arts all have weekly Open Studio hours. Open Studio fees are $20 per three-hour session (Wednesday Kid’s Session is $15/90 minutes). These sessions are for folks who have a working knowledge of the medium, have taken a class, and have completed an orientation.

We recommend that interested artists confirm studio hours and reserve a space in Open Studio in advance, as space is limited.

For more information, you can email us at info@waterfallarts.org or call us at 207-338-2222.

Studio Monitors

Open Studios are monitored by skilled volunteers who are there to assist but not teach. Thank you Waterfall Arts volunteers! If you don’t yet feel confident working self-sufficiently in the studio, consider taking one of our classes or sign up for an orientation session. We are currently looking for Studio Monitors, please contact Amy Tingle amy@waterfallarts.org if you are interested.

Studio Subscriptions

Artists can apply to have 24/7 access to the studios at Waterfall Arts (other than class time). Cost-saving subscription rates are available for $75/month plus a one time $50 refundable key deposit. Application approval and an orientation session are required.

Studio Orientations

Studio orientations include a comprehensive review of the studio space, safety protocol, equipment and available resources. Prospective subscribers must attend a studio orientation and be approved by the Studio Manager, before initiating a monthly subscription. Those interested in attending Open Studio hours are also recommended to attend a studio orientation.  Click below to register for a Studio Orientation.
