Midcoast Maine Collage Collective

Without a community, we cannot function.

The newly formed Midcoast Maine Collage Collective recently held its first monthly meeting in February. Collage encourages diversity and discourages exclusivity. It’s naturally a fun, accessible art form. The mission of the collective, initiated by artist Amy Tingle, is to provide a space for artists and art enthusiasts to gather together and create collage and to foster connections around the medium. Members will share prompts, ideas, materials, and techniques and will empower and inspire each other through a variety of collaborations.

We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. The meetups are free and open to everyone, no prior experience necessary and all ages are welcome. Materials are simple and easy-to-find. Our future activities will include continued monthly meetups (on Zoom for now, but when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted we’ll meet at Waterfall Arts), a public event for World Collage Day on Saturday, May 8, 2021 (details to come!), collaborative projects, and eventually, open calls for mail art and collage exhibitions. To join, register here. If you have questions or want more information, reach out to Amy via email at tingle97@gmail.com

Upcoming Collage Collective dates:

Fun fact: During our second meetup in March we all used the same starting image to create our collages. Here are a few of the results!
