stepping stones in water with ripples

April 3 – May 8 in the Clifford and Corridor Galleries

Opening Reception Friday, April 3 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

This year we invite the public to participate in our annual Open Call show by exploring the idea of Milestones.

2020 marks the 20th anniversary of Waterfall Arts and 200th anniversary of the state of Maine. To commemorate these milestones, our 2020 open call is for work that references the past, the future, anniversaries of any sort, or an important milestone in your life/the world around you.

The annual Open Call show at Waterfall Arts is an opportunity for everyone to participate in the creative dialogue springing from our 2020 exhibitions. Bring your work—one piece per artist, please—to Waterfall Arts March 24-27, Tuesday – Friday, between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Friday, March 27 is the deadline for dropping off work. If you need to schedule an alternate drop off time, please reach out to or call 207-338-2222.

This is a non-juried exhibition. Both 2D and 3D work is acceptable. Please, all work MUST be ready to hang, with proper, reliable hanging devices securely attached. Framed and matted work is best. We cannot include work that requires magnets, pushpins, or nails instead of conventional hanging devices. If desired, protective packaging will be stored for you for the duration of the show.

BONUS CALL FOR WORK! Waterfall Arts inhabits the former Governor Anderson Elementary School. Concurrently with the Milestones Open Call Exhibition, we’re putting together a small exhibition of photographs and artwork of the former Anderson School. Were you a student here? Did a relative or friend teach or work here? What was your relationship to this building before it became the home of Waterfall Arts? If you or someone you know might have a photo or artwork to contribute to this show, please contact
