“The Khashoggi Story” a talk with Artist Kenny Cole and Activist El Fadel Arbab

September 18@6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Free

Unique perspectives and fascinating stories—join us for a conversation with artist Kenny Cole and activist El Fadel Arbab in response to Kenny’s piece “The Khashoggi Story” (part of the “GALLERY CLOSED” exhibition on view in Waterfall Arts’ Clifford Gallery until September 20). El Fadel will discuss Kenny’s art work, his experience as an activist, and his perspective on the murder of Saudi dissident, Jamal Khashoggi. A survivor of genocide, El Fadel fled the Darfur region of Sudan at age 12 and currently lives in Portland, Maine. This evening will be a unique opportunity for the local community to hear from someone with a direct and deep personal connection to the Arab world who has survived state-sponsored violence. Additionally, El Fadel regularly and actively speaks out against state-sponsored violence, like Jamal Khashoggi. Now a resident of Maine, El Fadel is a great local resource for anyone who wants to hear how the United States’ international policies and actions might affect cultures and societies.
