July 28, 2019, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Up until the late 1800’s, all colors came from natural sources. It’s fun and easy to still use these dyes today. In Natural Dye Rainbow, we will explore 8-10 natural dyes, from roots, flowers, minerals, wood, and even an insect or two. We will learn how to prepare fibers for dyeing and learn how to coax maximum colors from our dyestuff. We will be dying wool yarns, and end up with 15 or so colors. Please bring note-taking materials, as well as a plastic bag or container for bringing home your wet yarns. Dyeing can have an element of waiting, so feel free to bring your knitting or other hand craft to work on while we wait for our colors to cook!
