Poets, Potluck, and Fools

September 24 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

Save the date: we’re reviving the famous “Poets and Fools” Costume Ball Variety Show with Poetry, Music, and more! Except, this year, we are celebrating Waterfall Arts co-founders Al and Lorna Crichton for their 20 years of service and dedication of their lives to the organization. Make no mistake: it will be fun and bizarre (artists and costumes!), it will be casual (bring a dish to share: it’s a potluck!), and it will be convenient to partake (happening at the Belfast Boathouse!). Bring a story about Al or Lorna, bring a poem, bring an instrument–bring your silly self!

For those that wanted to formally bid “farewell” in typical Al and Lorna fashion and couldn’t join us at the Gala fundraiser, this event is for you.

About Poets & Fools

In our early years, Waterfall Arts held a big party at the Montville Grange to celebrate April Fools Day and National Poetry month. We had such a good time that we decided to make it an annual event in our former Fallout Shelter Performance Space. There has always been some combination of variety show with poetry, storytellers, musicians, and performances; it has been emceed by a mysterious Belfast denizen; many come dressed to participate in the costume contest with prizes and celebrity judges; lots of happy fools, fun, and friends.
