This is a concentrated watercolor workshop designed for people working on many levels: Those who have wanted to experience the medium but have been intimidated, and those who want to find new freedom in painting and/or watercolor. In this workshop, we’ll progressively move through a series of paintings (trees, flowers, birds, sunsets) while creating a watercolor journal filled with fun and compelling exercises. We’ll dispel the tired notion that “watercolor is unforgiving” by learning about its physical properties and the way the paint moves and flows on the paper.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Marcie is a visual artist whose painting stands on nearly three decades of dedication to photographic and meditational practices. A graduate of The Fashion Institute of Technology and Hampshire College, her work has been commissioned, published, collected, and exhibited for thirty years. For the past 22 years, she has lived and worked in Belfast, teaching in schools and workshops, creating books and works of Public Art. From 2011-14, she developed the ArtLab at the Center For Maine Contemporary Art. For the past five years, she has taught creative watercolor painting in classes on ships around the world. As a painter, she is known as Mattina Blue: www.mattinablue.com

NOTE: You will receive confirmation when you have successfully submitted the registration form. Your registration is not complete until payment has been received. Please try to register no later than one week prior to the first meeting of the class. All classes have minimum and maximum enrollment thresholds, so early registration will improve the chances of a class running and of your slot in it! Minimum enrollment for this class must be met by February 23rd in order for it to run. Registration cancellations must be made at least a week in advance to receive a full refund.


    Waterfall Arts send out an email newsletter every couple of weeks highlighting upcoming classes and happenings.
