Open Studio: Printmaking (Kennedy Press)

March 5, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 12:00 pm on Saturday, repeating until April 16, 2022

Start a new project or finish something you have started. Don’t let your lack of studio equipment be an obstacle! Waterfall Arts has well-furnished and staffed facilities for artists of all skill levels to drop in and work independently on their own projects. In addition to providing a workspace and tools, the studios at Waterfall Arts provide a forum for sharing ideas, developing techniques, and experimentation, as well as an opportunity for building community. Artists working in all disciplines are welcome and encouraged to get involved.

The Kennedy Press is equipped with three etching presses (60″ x 38″ Conrad, 22″x50″ Dickerson Combo, 24″ x 45″ Brand), ferric etch bath, brayers, hot plate, and large drying rack. The studio is notably a “green” studio. We aim to use the safest current practices with as little toxins as possible (such as using chemicals that are solvent-free). Our studio monitors are happy to provide training on how to incorporate these methods into your working style.

Drop-in rates are $20 for a 3-hour session. Maximum 5 artists during Open Studios.

About the Studio Monitor

Allison Heckman is a multidisciplinary artist currently based in Bar Harbor. Raised in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Allison moved from Dutch country to attend school in Beverly, Massachusetts, where she earned her BFA with a focus in illustration and printmaking. She moved to the Maine coast in 2020, where she now prints, paints, and freelances. Her work is inspired by the quiet wisdom of the natural world and small moments of everyday life.
