In this dynamic, hands-on workshop, we’ll explore visual mind mapping as an essential tool for firing up ideas, as well as organizing, deepening and strengthening your art practice. We’ll also consider the possibilities of the mind map as a standalone art form with narrative possibilities. Through a combination of brainstorming, writing, map drawing/doodling and mark-making, this workshop is guaranteed to help you defy the ‘blank canvas’ or page and send you home brimming with new ideas. Ideal for artists, writers, picture book author/illustrators and visual thinkers at any stage of a creative process and all levels of experience.
Instructor: Author-illustrator Lucky Platt creates books for children in her lakeside rural Maine studio. She works in a range of traditional art mediums, and her stories explore themes of resilience, healing, positive self expression and inclusion. She has presented art and writing workshops for children and adults through the Maine Crafts Association, Schoodic Arts for All, the Maine Arts Commission and Rockland Public Library, and has shown her artwork in galleries and non-traditional/unexpected art spaces in Maine and New York.
