Level II Relief Printmaking with Paul Valentine

January 21 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm EST

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, repeating until January 28, 2023

$100.00 – $150.00

Level II Relief Printmaking means it is time to bring color into the mix! If you are comfortable with creating a single-color relief print, then come and learn how to use the multi-block and reduction printmaking techniques in this 2-day workshop. There are exciting differences between the two that leads to very different mark making. We will also discuss advanced inking strategies that can add depth and complexity to your image.

Multi-block relief printmaking uses a separate block for each color. The carved areas fit together like puzzle pieces and are printed in succession onto the paper. Reduction relief printmaking uses only one block, slowly carving it away as each layer is printed on top of the one before. The final layer is usually the black outline, and it will have every other color printed underneath it.

All materials and tools needed will be supplied. Please note this class 2 days (Saturday January 21 and Saturday January 28) and is for ages 15+ who have a basic understanding of relief printmaking or a related medium.
