Kinetic Creatives

July 14, 10:15 AM - 11:45 AM

Kinetic Creatives

Tuesdays 10:15-11:45am

Park on Main, downtown Belfast

All ages. $15.

Pre-register on the website or drop-in!

Art really is for everyone! Offerings will change weekly to encourage you to observe, creatively interpret, or interact with your surroundings in innovative ways. Instructors will invite you to walk a short distance (up to 1/4 mile) from the park, to engage with your own creative process. That said, you are certainly welcome to stay and create while seated in the shaded Park on Main area for the duration of the program, if you prefer.

7/28: Urban sketching with ink, with teaching artist Hélène Farrar. *Bring paper and ink pens or markers.

8/4: Spontaneous and collaborative collage-making, with The Creativity Caravan’s Amy Tingle and Maya Stein.

8/11: Blind contour drawings and Guerrilla Art (leaving a piece we make for someone else to find – shh!), with The Creativity Caravan’s Amy Tingle and Maya Stein.

8/18: Urban sketching, with teaching artist Hélène Farrar.

Program details will be sent in a confirmation email, upon registration. In most cases materials will be provided, but if relevant, a list of additional suggested materials you might bring from home will be shared via email by the day before the program. If heavy rain is forecasted for a Tuesday morning, participants will receive notice of cancellation by Monday afternoon, and will be given the option to apply their registration towards a future week.

Amy Tingle and Maya Stein are artists, writers, and the founders of The Creativity Caravan, a mobile endeavor specializing in art and creative writing classes and large-scale projects with the goal of engaging and nourishing the creative spark in communities everywhere. At the heart of their teaching and facilitating work is a commitment to guidance, support, and compassion. You can find out more about them at www.thecreativitycaravan.com

Hélène Farrar is an artist and painter primarily working in the ancient medium of encaustic. Hélène has taught and worked in the visual arts for over twenty years while actively exhibiting in commercial and nonprofit galleries and museums across Maine and New England, New York City, Italy, and England. The content of her work originates in storytelling, introspection and place. Through bold color and texture, her works are luminous, exhibit beauty, and invite response. In the last few years, her works have been accepted into prestigious institutions across New England. Hélène currently runs a private art school in Manchester, Maine, out of her “Farmhouse” studio, where she holds varied weekly classes for children and adults. She has also taught specific art programs across the state as a teaching artist in schools. Hélène has taught multiple courses at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and the International Encaustics Conference, and is a teaching artist for the Farnsworth Art Museum.

All in-person Waterfall Arts programs in the summer of 2020 will be held outdoors and physically-distanced.  Masks are required (particularly during times of instruction and discussion) for both instructors and participants. Participants will be responsible for bringing their own water and can spread out to seek shade as needed. Public restrooms are located near this location.
