In this 8-week class we will be using watercolors in playful and exploratory ways to discover what we want to communicate with our art. Assignments will vary wildly, but they will be in service of homing in on ideas, topics or methodologies that feel personal, interesting, or important to each artist. This class is best for folks with some watercolor experience, but beginners are welcome, too.
Materials list*: Sketching pencils & pens, eraser, pad of watercolor paper, watercolor set (hard pan or tubes), masking fluid, small tube of white gouache paint. Waterfall Arts has many of these items available to share if don’t have them all!
About the instructor: Amy Bird holds a Masters in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design. She lives in Belfast with her husband, 2 daughters, and 2 dogs. Although she used to show her paintings at fancypants galleries in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ketchum, Idaho, nowadays if she can find 15 minutes, she’s pretty excited to just push some paint around paper and see what happens.
