In this unique workshop, participants will learn and develop the many varied ways of creating images with woodcut and monotype, and combinations of the two! Enjoy the excitement of seeing your layered images emerge from this age-old, elegant way of working. Class time will be spent learning the crafts of carving and printing as well as learning the various ways to layer color with monoprint techniques.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Julia has been an artist and illustrator for 30 years. Her creative process includes creating linoleum and woodblock prints based on patterns found in the natural and the man-made world and then collaging them back together to make new forms. She is a member of the Bromfield gallery in Boston, fellowship recipient at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont. She has designed Christmas stamps for the US Postal Service, and packaging for software development companies, among other illustration clients. She leads steamroller printing events regularly around the Boston area, and is a board member of the Boston Printmakers.
