Color Theory II – Winter 2020
February 27, 2020, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
An event every week that begins at 11:00 AM on Thursday, repeating until April 16, 2020

What is started in Color Theory I continues and expands in this 8 week class. Artists study color structure (harmonic relationships), composition, and application of paint, expanding the palette, finding color balance within the work, and analyzing a work as it develops. In addition, the mechanics and methodology of the painting process – different types of brushes, preparing a substrate, making paint, using extenders, adjusting for canvas size, how to put the paint onto canvas selectively and deliberately are addressed. Instead of the week-to-week assignments of Color Theory I, in this course, artists work on developing a series of small paintings that brings color issues into discussion fluidly and quickly in the weekly critiques. Previous experience of Color Theory I recommended.
