Experience the Magic of Creativity at the 2023 Belfast Chalk Walk: A Street Art Extravaganza and Open Call for Artists!
Belfast, ME — August 15, 2023 — Mark your calendars and get ready for a captivating journey into the world of art and imagination as Belfast proudly presents the much-awaited 7th annual Belfast Chalk Walk 2023, an extraordinary chalk drawing festival that promises to ignite your senses and inspire your soul. This annual celebration of artistic expression will take place on September 23, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm EDT in the heart of downtown Belfast and Heritage Park. Rain date September 24, 2023.
Thanks to the support of Belfast’s Parks and Recreation Department, the artists who contribute their time and work, the hustle of volunteers, and donations large and small, the Belfast Chalk Walk has grown exponentially since its first year. This year over two thousand people have expressed interest, demonstrating the power of the arts to transform a small Midcoast town gathering into a destination event.
The Belfast Harborwalk will come alive with vibrant colors and breathtaking creations, as talented artists converge to transform ordinary sidewalks into magnificent masterpieces. With approximately 30 designated spots along the scenic Harborwalk, downtown Belfast, from the boardwalk to Steamboat Landing Park, attendees will have the unique opportunity to witness the magic of artistry in action. Each spot is assigned to a registered artist, and the canvas is ready for their creative touch.
Calling All Art Enthusiasts! Whether you’re an experienced artist seeking to showcase your talents or a budding creative spirit eager to make your mark, the Belfast Chalk Walk warmly welcomes you. The festival features an inviting community-draw area, where individuals of all ages can join in the creative frenzy and leave their artistic imprint. This family-friendly, free event promises a day of fun, laughter, and inspiration for everyone.
Chalks, Rags, and Imagination – We’ve Got You Covered! Advanced registration is essential, but participation is absolutely free. Waterfall Arts, the event organizer, provides artists with all the necessary tools, including chalks, rags, knee pads, and water, along with a wealth of tips and resources for newcomers. Artists are encouraged to let their creativity flow with family-friendly subject matter, and ideas can be shared with the Chalk Walk planners in advance.
This remarkable event is not only a celebration of art but also a tribute to the spirit of community and collaboration. The Belfast Chalk Walk is open to the public and free of charge, with donations graciously accepted to cover the cost of supplies and ensure the continuation of this incredible tradition.
Are you an artist seeking to make a big impact? Register before September 15, to secure a spot. For those who prefer a little more privacy while they create, limited spots are available for early completion on September 22. Waterfall Arts is also on the lookout for talented individuals to create eye-catching way-finding arrows that will guide visitors on their artistic journey.
Empowering Young Artists: At the heart of the Belfast Chalk Walk is the belief in nurturing creativity from a young age. All budding artists under the age of 15 can register for a 3′ x 3′ spot alongside their fellow young talents. Everyone, regardless of age, is invited to unleash their inner artist in the captivating community drawing area.
