Fun and supportive drop-in studio for teens to work on projects in the Bridge Studio. Kids can work on their own or collaborative projects, get help with a certain skill, or experiment with the many materials in the studio.
Parents/guardians must come in and fill out a sign up form at drop-off (only the first time) or fill out the online form below before first drop-off.
Kids can drop $8 into the jar when they arrive, or visits can be prepaid online or in the office.
Headphones are allowed, but we ask that cellphones be used just for calls to parents in our creative space!
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Teen Art Studio is led by the Youth & Family Outreach Coordinator, Bridget Matros. Matros came to Waterfall Arts with over 15 years of teaching art at every level and setting — from preschool circle-time to computer literacy classes for the elderly. A practicing artist herself, Matros developed and grew the Art Studio exhibit and program at the Boston Children’s Museum, is a published advocate for quality creative development in early childhood education, and has been deemed one of 21 “young leaders in arts education” by Harvard scholars.
The Teen Art Studio is part of the Youth & Family Outreach (YFO) Program at Waterfall Arts. The program provides safe spaces for young artists to connect with themselves, each other, and the community through quality creative experiences.
The Youth & Family Outreach Program is made possible by local business sponsors The Green Store and the Belfast Co-op. Additional support is provided by foundations such as the Kennedy Family Foundation, Morton-Kelly Charitable Trust, the Nellie Leaman Taft Foundation, and the Maine Arts Commission, as well as individual donors.
