BRIDGE is a FREE after school art club for 6th graders to connect to themselves, each other and the community. Bridge gives young artists a creative outlet and a safe space for self expression, while connecting them to working artists and the local art scene. There is a bus that transports students from Troy Howard Middle School to Waterfall Arts.

BRIDGE is led by Youth & Family Outreach Coordinator and teaching artist, Bridget Matros. Matros has been an educator for fifteen years, teaching all levels and in just about every setting, from preschool circle-time to computer literacy for the elderly. She designed and ran the Art Studio exhibit and program at Boston Children’s Museum for ten years, developing best practices for informal education with families, and piloted an after school arts program across three schools in south Boston, for 130 students. Nationally recognized as an upcoming arts leader, Matros’ call to arms for quality creative experiences in preschool and kindergarten was published in “20Under40: Reinventing the Arts and Arts Education for the 21st Century” (AuthorHouse, 2010). Ms. Matros’ academic background includes a BA from Oberlin College in Sociology and Psychology, course work at MassArt and Harvard Extension, and acceptance to Lesley University’s Expressive Therapies masters program. Her artistry includes visual art in a range of media (including interactive assemblage, altered books, paper cutting, and mixed media) in addition to acting, producing, singing, and performance.
