All Ages Art Happenings (AAAH!) returns with Hagamos Arte! on Saturday, May 6 from 2-4pm! FREE!
Cinco de Mayo is a huge holiday for celebrating Mexican culture – a perfect time for learning about the colorful folk arts of Mexico! At this day-after-Cinco-de-Mayo event, we’ll make pinatas, cut papel picado, fold paper flowers, and build tiny nichos. Practice your Spanish and enjoy a traditional hat dance!
Throughout the year, FREE All Ages Art Happenings (AAAH) events engage area youth and families through community-building “art parties” with memorable, themed, multi-sensory art experiences for all ages. AAAH events are led by Bridget Matros, Waterfall Art’s Youth & Family Outreach Coordinator. Matros came to Waterfall Arts with over 15 years of teaching art at every level and setting — from preschool circle-time to computer literacy classes for the elderly. A practicing artist herself, Matros developed and grew the Art Studio exhibit and program at the Boston Children’s Museum, is a published advocate for quality creative development in early childhood education, and has been deemed one of 21 “young leaders in arts education” by Harvard scholars.
The Youth & Family Outreach Program is made possible by local business sponsors The Green Store and the Belfast Co-op. Additional support is provided by foundations such as the Kennedy Family Foundation, Morton-Kelly Charitable Trust, the Nellie Leaman Taft Foundation, and the Maine Arts Commission, as well as individual donors.
