Annual Art + Nature Symposium
November 14, 15 and 16
Waterfall Arts will be hosting the second annual Art+Nature Symposium the weekend of November 14, 15 and 16. This year the Symposium will feature Ene Osteraas-Constable, who, with her husband Scott Constable, are Wowhaus, found on the web at www.thewowhaus.com. During the three-day series, participants will explore the Wowhaus initiative of Deep Craft, the radical activism of making things by hand and working within local bio regions and communities and its fundamental relationship to global environmental issues. The event will provide both theoretical discussion and examples of practical hands-on applications for re-thinking our design of products, the materials we use, and the implications for sustainability and the conservation of earth’s resources. The symposium is intended for artists, designers, builders, crafts people and others engaged or interested in environmental awareness and/or activism. Maine artists will be represented in a Symposium-themed exhibit at Waterfall Arts' Clifford Gallery, and Waterfall Arts will focus several presentations in it Artist Lecture series leading up to the Symposium on related topics.
